The National Blood Service (NBS) has been featured in an international health magazine, Endeavour Health Magazine. The June 2022 edition of magazine highlights the efforts of the NBS to attain a sustainable national supply of safe blood products that relies on 100% voluntary unpaid blood donations in a manner responsive to the needs of patients requiring blood transfusion therapy.

Amidst its numerous challenges, the NBS strives to strengthen collaboration with major stakeholders such as religious bodies, educational institutions, corporate organisations and other governmental agencies to increase the availability of blood and blood products in Ghana.

During the recent global pandemic, blood services in Ghana was disrupted. As we tentatively eye the hope of a post-Covid world, Endeavour takes a look at how the NBS is trying to impact the health of Ghanaians. Read the online version of the article here.
