The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Blood Service (NBS), Dr Shirley Owusu-Ofori has presented a Centrufuge Heraeus Cryofuge equipment to KATH.
The equipment is a modern blood processing and separation machine that would serve the needs of the Medicine Transfusion Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Presenting the equipment, the CEO of NBS said the machine had the potential to process and separate blood components so that it can be used to attend to different needs at the unit including tissue recovery.
Dr Owusu-Ofori said patients who may need blood would now have access to same in high quality levels.
“Together with my Board Members, we are here to present this blood processing equipment to KATH so that it can be of use to the Transfusion unit which is now the regional blood centre due to a recent calibration by the National Blood Service”, the CEO stated.
