Accra High School is the winner of the 2025 National Blood Donor Day (NBDD) What-Do-You-Know Quiz, organized by the National Blood Service in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Accra and Accra Ridge.
The winning school participated in the competition with three other schools, such as Prampram Senior High School, Nugua Senior High School, and Wesley Grammar High School.
The event, held at GTV studio 1 on Sunday, November 23, 2025, is one of several activities planned for the Golden Jubilee celebration of National Blood Donor Day, 2025.
Anthony Agana and Godwin Adjorlolo Selorm led Prampram Senior High with 21 points; Bentil Patrick and Adjei Benedict led Nugua Senior High with 29 points; Abdul Hakeem Adamu and Gabriel Ohene Bempong led Wesley Grammar Senior High with 22 points; and Abdul Karim Ibrahim and Darlington Awuah Nyamekeh led Accra High School with 30 points.
Accra High School received an amazing GH₵ 4000.00 for placing first, Wesley Grammar Senior High received GH₵ 2500.00 for placing third, Nungua Senior High School received GH₵ 3000.00 for placing second, and Prampram Senior High School received GH₵ 1500.00 for placing fourth.
Dr. Shirley Owusu Ofori, Chief Executive Officer of the National Blood Service, was among the dignitaries in attendance. She delivered a speech in which she stated that the National Blood Service has relied on the generosity, compassion, and civic spirit of thousands of voluntary blood donors for the past 25 years. “The event serves as a reminder that ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply begins with education, particularly among our youth,” she explained.
She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Ghana Education Service and Senior High Schools for their unwavering support in encouraging voluntary blood donation. “Your participation continues to shape the next generation of lifesavers”, she declared.
The CEO praised the Rotary Club of Accra and Accra Ridge for their long-standing support of the National Blood Service, which has promoted voluntary donations, supported outreaches, and saved countless lives. He also encouraged and praised the quiz contestants’ enthusiasm for voluntary blood donation.
Mr. Dan Afari Yeboah, the quizmaster for the occasion, welcomed everyone and spoke about the importance of voluntary blood donation. To commemorate their victory, the audience expressed heartfelt appreciation and applause at the end of the event.
