The National Blood Service (NBS) on Tuesday, 29th July 2025, led by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Shirley Owusu-Ofori, paid a courtesy call to an esteemed personality, Dr. (Mrs.) Sylvia Awo Mansa Boye, at her residence in Accra. The CEO was accompanied by Management members and staff of the NBS, as well as Dr. Justina Kordai Ansah; former CEO of the NBS.
Dr. Sylvia A. M. Boye served as Chairperson of the National Blood Committee (NBC) from 2007 to 2017. Her decade of sterling service was marked with significant transformation within the Blood Service, contributing to its emergence as agency under the Ministry of Health.
She was honored with a bouquet of fresh flowers and a personalized plaque bearing a citation in recognition for her commitment to the Blood Service, dedication and exceptional leadership. The presentation was jointly made by Dr. Ansah and Dr. Owusu-Ofori.
In her remarks, Dr. Sylvia Boye thanked the NBS team for the thoughtful gesture. She commended the Service for its continued efforts in ensuring the availability of safe blood and further encouraged management to sustain its commitment to increasing access to life-saving blood units across the country.
